Silk Ties and Trends

Fashionable ties and what does that actually mean?

Ties have had a roller coaster of a ride lately as city chaps have virtually abandoned the classic throat throttler for dress down casual all day relaxed attitudes. But the tie is starting to make a little revival. Formal shirts have had to act as surrogate for the loss of the tie by adding much more colour than usual. Shirtmakers have tried their hardest to conquer unknown colour pallets where previously mixing shades outside of their usual comfort zone has led to nothing short of horrific at times.

But as open collars and jeans are no longer a fashionable option in the city the tie has pinned back the collars with much more classic and if you like a leaf out of Polo's fashion archive.

With a sudden surge of pop artists going semi-formal the more fashionable thinner tie has now made its appearance and although seen as a strong fashion statement I cant say that most city folk have the right suit or shoes to accommodate it yet. Give them time I say says Hewitt & May.

Colour tones for ties this winter are tones of charcoal, slate and silvery grey with organic and deep oceanic tones. Clay and earthy colours are also seen as very dominant. Pattern repeats should be close with tighter neat designs. Semi plain ties are also very popular t the moment but the classic designs from fashion houses such as Polo are most likely to set the latest trends.
