Sexy Jumpsuits
If you buy one thing this season, make it a slouchy jumpsuit – it spells versatile, comfortable and go-anywhere chic. Spring fashion runways were awash with all-in-ones, in a wide variety of shapes and styles such as strapless, ankle cropped (this spring’s hottest length), waistcoated and draped.
Sporty Chic
From the runways of Missoni and Michael Kors came outfits that are far to pretty to be worn to the gym. Check out the latest looks in daywear-cum sportswear influenced by these designers. Be it running pants or biker shorts, bodysuits or sleeveless hoodies, this season provides fresh-takes on athletic wear. Stella McCartney’s oh-so comfortable racer back jumpsuit ticks two trend boxes in one.
Arabian Nights
Whether its Ali Baba harem pants or Moroccan-style feminine and floaty djellabas (flowing Arabic caftans) there is a hint of exotic spice in the shimmering hues and colorful prints. Embrace the turban trend a la Dries van Norton or grab a pair of ankle-cropped harem pants for extra style points. Marc Jacobs' Moorish-inspired black print bag is the perfect flight bag for carry on chic.
Flapper Fashion
Put away last spring and summer’s smock-style dresses and embraced the flapper trend. Flapper dresses and fringing reflect the 1920s, on both sides of the Depression. Wear a flapper dress with a box jacket to give it a modern twist. Fun and flirty, you’ll find fringing on everything from bags to shoes and swimsuits to lingerie this season. The seductive fringing at Jill Sander reinvents the little black dress.
Goddess Dressing
Add a little luxe to your wardrobe this season with a timeless goddess gown. Following th epopularity of the Greco-Roman gown in 2009, Spring 2010 runways were awash with Grecian draping in inky hues and soft pastels. Whether its Yves Saint Laurent or recession main street chic, you can’t go wrong with some goddess glamour. Be it one-shoulder dressing, halter-neck or strapless gowns, Grecian draping flatters all figures.
Recession Chic
Recession dressing means easy, simple styling with relaxed oversized loose-fit blazers and scrunch up the sleeves. Team them with slouchy 7/8th length ankle-crop pants for an on-trend look. When it comes to dresses, wear-everywhere pull on styles in classic colors like white and navy will keep you going throughout the season. Keep outfits plain and simple and go with bold, colorful accessories — large necklaces, look-at-me cuffs and decadent cocktail rings.
Bold Prints
This spring sees everything from zebra to safari to colorful kaleidoscopic prints. Bold monochromes and eye-popping brights come in the form of geometric glamour courtesy of designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Jonathan Saunders.
Whether its high-end designer or main-street chic, just a few well chosen investments in some of the season’s hottest styles will keep your look up-to-the-minute, and fashion-ready for spring.
