The basic idea of the slingshot was worn to great comedic effect in the film Borat, where the titular character's swimsuit consisted of a single piece of fabric that covered his groin and went over each shoulder, rendering him mostly naked but also truly ridiculous. However, the same basic principle can apply to a woman's swimsuit and in this case, it's far more sexy.

The slingshot bikini puts such other notoriously skimpy swimsuits such as the Brazilian and the micro bikini to shame, as the effect is to render you even more naked because the fabric is so narrow and often sits away from the body.

It does look a lot like an old-fashioned slingshot toy, only in this instance, you're loading something far more dangerous inside! Most slingshots are technically one piece suits. An extreme slingshot bikini requires extreme preparation. Whereas most bikinis do demand that you get a bikini wax, this swimsuit cannot be worn to any effect without a full body wax first. You are essentially putting all your skin on display and you don't want any errant hairs. Likewise, you should do a salt scrub for exfoliation and treat your skin with a body mask to take care of ingrown hairs and pimples or other blemishes.

With so much skin on display, it's crucial that you wear good sunscreen. Most women who choose to wear slingshots are doing so to get a nearly complete body tan, but the effect is ruined if you get burned. Apply a liberal amount of sunscreen and keep it handy throughout the day.

Where to Wear Them?

Technically, all but the absolutely most extreme slingshot bikinis (those where the fabric goes around, rather than on, the breast) keep you legal in most places. However, they are still considered hugely inappropriate for a family beach.

While it's true that in Europe many beaches are nude and the whole family roams around comfortably, the idea of a slingshot swimsuit is to be sexy in a way that being naked with everyone else just isn't. So, you have to be aware that you will be crossing some lines in some places. However, there are any number of adults-only beaches where you can flaunt your slingshot with pride. Likewise, an adults-only cruise or pool party where you know sexy swimsuits will be on parade and even the men will be getting into the extreme action are just fine.
