Lip Augmentation |
 |
|
Lip augmentation creates fuller, plumper lips and reduces fine wrinkles around the mouth. This can be done as an outpatient treatment or overnight stay. Risks include allergic reaction or infection.
With age, lips lose their fullness. The upper lip, in particular, appears thin and the distance from the tip of the nose to the upper lip lengthens as the lips drop “down” giving a frown-like appearance. The vermilion border, also called the “cupid’s bow”, flattens out and becomes thin. A lip lift or augmentation will increase the volume and fullness of the lips and give a more attractive contour and natural pout as in our youth. Treatment may require a surgical lip lift in order to shorten the area between the nose and upper lip, and injections or filler materials (e.g. collagen) which can be implanted into the skin to give the soft lip tissue fullness and support.
For centuries, a woman’s lips have been viewed as a sign of her sensuality. Just think of Angelina Jolie. It seems today luscious lips are everywhere with woman even telling their surgeons “I want Angelina’s lips”.
Luscious lips are a key element of almost every photo in every fashion magazine. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with a pair of naturally beautiful lips. The few who are don’t get to keep them without a little help. Over time sun, the elements, smoking and the aging process take their toll and that once sensual look is gone or greatly diminished. But thanks to today’s many medical advances there is help. Aging lips can be rejuvenated and less full lips can be enhanced.
Lip enhancement and rejuvenation are two of the most frequently requested cosmetic procedures. Your options range from the latest in laser treatments to natural injectable fillers or synthetic implants. All of these fillers are soft, pliable, and have a natural feel.
