Summer Make up Trends 2013
A NEW season means brand new beauty trends, which in turn means an opportunity to give your make-up collection a colourful revamp. Luckily the spring/summer 2013 shows provided plenty of food for thought.
Eyes were the focus at shows throughout all four fashion weeks, with Donna Karan and Altuzarra in New York, Clements Ribeiro and Christopher Kane in London, Gucci and Versace in Milan and Chanel and Dior in Paris all choosing to draw attention to coloured liner, jewelled lids and extra-long lashes.
Meanwhile, matte lips at the likes of Giles, Rochas and Burberry Prorsum pepped up pared-back beauty looks, whilst Marc Jacobs and Moschino's Sixties focus held its own against the Nineties grunge liner at of Lanvin and 3.1 Phillip Lim.
3. Colour my world
Make-up ... boring? Not this summer! Grab your brushes and get creative. At Moschino, Cheap and Chic and Frankie Morello, the look was bold and artistic. "Beware of overdoing this trend for the everyday, and just focus on one feature at one time ... like the retro pink lips as seen at Hervè Legèr," says Hodges.
