Menstruation Problems-The Secret Way to Finally Overcome Yours

Is there a woman alive who doesn’t groan aloud each month when her dreaded period arrives? What’s not to groan about? It’s painful, messy and takes so much time out of your life. You’re told that it’s just part of being a woman and that you’re supposed to just “learn to live with it”.

Well, what if you’re tired of living with it? I, for one, fall into that category. In my early forties, with my tubes tied years ago I had to wonder why every month I was being subjected to this torture. And torture it was.

The older I got, the longer and heavier my periods became. Was I just supposed to sit and wait for the “relief” (and I say that with tongue planted firmly in cheek) of menopause? Or worse yet, be forced to have a hysterectomy which would take over six weeks to recover from?

There is a big secret that most women are not aware of that I’m here to tell you. You don’t have to have your period anymore. A surgery is available that’s non-invasive and has a recovery time of just a few days. It’s called “Hysteroscopic Endometrial Ablation” also know as “roller ball surgery”.

It involves a laser shaped like a roller ball which basically cauterizes the endometrial layer of the uterus. This prevents the blood from building up on the uterus and you no longer have a period. You get to keep your uterus and don’t have to face early menopause.

This surgery has been performed for over fifteen years (which makes me wonder why more women are not aware of it.) The only complications to be concerned with are if the doctor misses a small area of the uterus, you may have to have the surgery repeated. A small price to pay, in my opinion.

There is another downside in that preparation for this surgery may involve the doctor prescribing a drug called Lupron. This is given as an injection and stays in the body for a month. It’s a very expensive drug as well, running at around $350 to $500.

Lupron in essence, puts the body into a temporary menopausal state so that the endometrial layer is thinner and easier to laser, making surgery more likely to be successful.

Some of the side affects of Lupron are hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain and trouble sleeping. I’d have to say that being on Lupron was not a fun experience but the payoff in not having a period any longer was definitely worth it.

In conclusion, if you’re an older woman who is struggling with your periods and no longer concerned with having any more children you really need to check with your doctor to find out if having Hysteroscopic Endometrial Ablation is right for you. At least now you know you have a choice about your period.
